A+D Architecture and Design Museum>Los Angeles (A+D) is returning to its downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) roots, and in the heart of the area’s burgeoning Arts District in a warehouse-turned-museum, no less! The museum's upcoming 5th annual fundraiser, “CELEBRATE: SHELTER,” is being held on Saturday, June 27th 2015 and will double as A+D's grand reopening—a fitting fête for a monumental occasion. Keep reading to find out more about this amazing event and the cause it supports and see our past coverage here.
The centerpiece of the evening will be a silent auction of custom designed “shelters” created by architecture and design luminaries, installed exhibit-style in the new space. Participating architects, designers and artists include Ehrlich Architects, Gensler, Frederick Fisher, Office of Mobile Design, Karabachian, Ezequiel Farca, Maxi Cohen Studio, James Umfress and more. All pieces are donated and will be auctioned that evening, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting A+D. (See below for “Part and Parcel” by Ehrlich Architects, which conceives using a series of “blocks” or components to beautifully craft a unique idea of Shelter.)
